The      Challenge: Interpreting Market Value shift for Service Providers

  • There is a consensus that Digital Transformation is the way to move business forward, the challenge for the transformation achievements  experienced in the last two years therefore shift to solving how to scale digital processes, how to leverage digital technology enterprise wide, how to expand and embrace Agility and Lean Thinking  as a  holistic approach embedded in company culture, which by now should shifted to a customer focused  approach supported by data insights .
  • Since Digital Native Computing is a paradigm shift, it  generates a value migration process for IT professional service providers, requiring a more consultative approach closer to business decision makers, but without loosing  traditional IT departments involvement for  sponsorship in subjects like IT architecture,   security and agile development, among others. This impacts the cost of sales for the traditional service provider.
  • However, the fundamentals for generating high profit margins in IT professional services have not changed. Margins in the effort based pricing models like time and materials are decreasing due to competence and commoditization, but value based pricing opportunities like business outcome- benefit sharing models arise in the intersection of business and technology requirements, where enterprises today tend to prefer Operational Expenses and As a Service variable contracts vs Capex and fixed expenditures, while also shifting  the risk for project implementation and assets depreciation to the service provider.
